  • Intrusive thoughts

How does it work

Send us an email with your psychological complaints, your name, address and phone number.

If online treatment is desirable, an introductory meeting will be scheduled.

You will receive a link to enter the conference room on the scheduled day.

You are not required to download any software to enter the platform.

Initial interview

During the initial interview we will determine whether your request for treatment online treatment can be  granted.

You will have the opportunity to determine whether video calling can work for you and of course a match with the psychologist is important.

An appropriate referral will be sought if therapy should not start for one of the above reasons.

Individual treatment

During conversations we try to gain insights. Sometimes it occurs that the psychologist gives you assignments.

The treatment is based on evidenced-based theories and techniques. To gain an objective view of the psychological difficulties, you may be asked to complete questionnaires.

The frequency of the conversations is determined in consultation. .

We strive to never make therapy last longer than strictly necessary.

About Selien Hoessen

Selien Hoessen is an officially recognized clinical psychologist (graduated in 2009, Ghent University, Belgium). She gained several years of experience in a psychiatric center, both in an admission department and in a treatment department for eating problems, personality disorders and long-term mood or addiction problems.

Selien works in a General Hospital (Ghent, Belgium) as a first-line psychologist. She is also responsible for the care of people with psychological difficulties (psychiatry liaison) who are admitted to hospital. Selien provides psychological group therapies during admission to the psychiatric ward within the general hospital, and provides care for persons with suicide complaints, she also works as a psychologist for the Mobile Crisis Team.

Building on the years of experience within the clinic, Selien started a private practice for outpatient psychological treatment within a general practice in 2012 (Wondelgem, Belgium). She focuses mainly on mild to moderate psychological complaints and tries to apply the principles of the first-line psychologist. Given her experience, people with more serious problems can also contact her.

Selien works eclectically with a strong preference for cognitive behavioral therapies. Selien trained as a schema therapist and enjoys working within this therapeutic framework.
